In difficult times

As I am sure most are well aware, our national and global economies are struggling quite a bit at the moment. The National Bureau of Economic Research has recognized that the U.S. economy peaked in December 2007, and has been in recession since that time. I personally do not know very many folks who have not felt a personal financial impact related to this broader trend. Unfortunately, it is the already economically disadvantaged who are likely to suffer the greatest, in a very real and immediate sense.
Organizations like the HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center, who work to provide emergency shelter and other basic needs to individuals in crisis--or to those who are not eligible for other services--rely heavily on charitable donations to continue functioning. More than half of HOPE's funding for this coming season will be private, as available state and federal resources are limited; and yet, in rough economic climates, charitable giving can decline rapidly, right when service providers are experiencing huge increases in need for their services.
In these difficult times--when it matters most--please consider making a contribution or pledge to the HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center, so that we can continue providing a safe place for people to eat and sleep in Oakland County, regardless of their circumstances. You can click here to donate online, or mail a check to Hope Hospitality and Warming Center, Inc., P.O. Box 431548, Pontiac, MI 48343. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
