Position Title: Executive Director
FTE/Exempt
Summary of Essential Functions and Duties
Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises all aspects of the HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center. This position reports directly to the Board Chair and the Board of Directors. This position requires management and leadership skills as well as administrative/clerical skills. The Executive Director represents the interests of HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center in the community and with grantors. The position is responsible for managing budgets, contracts, grants, fund development, volunteers, staff and operational logistics associated with the warming center. Essential duties include the following, and other duties may be assigned:
• Operations 45%
1. Oversees and is responsible for the operations and general management of the HOPE Warming Center
2. Hires, trains and supervises seasonal staff employees
3. Trains and supervises volunteers
4. Serves as on site coordinator at the HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center
5. Handles the day to day operations of the HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center
6. Solicits, coordinates and maintains a schedule of volunteer organizations/faith communities
7. Manages and negotiates all contracts and legal documents, as well as secures Board approval for these contracts and legal documents.
8. Responsible for meeting reporting requirements on all government grants.
9. Works with the Board to develop annual budget
10. Administers annual budget and funds according to HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center established procedures and the rules of the funding source.
11. Develops community contacts and attends community meetings (e.g. Oakland Co Task Force on Homelessness, etc.) as the representative of HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center
12. Works collaboratively with agencies that serve the homeless population.
13. Manages and ensures compliance with all federal, state, local and foundation grants.
14. Interpreting, applying and implementing policies and procedures to accomplish the mission of HOPE Hospitality and Warming Center and to ensure the safety of guests, volunteers and independent contract staff.
15. Assist in activities that help achieve program objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan
16. Enhances professional growth and development of HOPE staff
17. Oversight of budget process, financial accounting and reporting.
• Fund Development 50%
1. Oversees and is responsible for fund development of the organization.
2. Cultivates and stewards current donors.
3. Researches and cultivates major gift prospects
4. Prepares acknowledgments, fundraising, internet and mail appeal letters.
5. Develops a fundraising plan for the organization.
6. Implements organization’s fundraising plan.
7. Track record of successful grant writing
• Marketing, Community and Media Relations 5%
1. Develops necessary organizational marketing materials
2. Prepares media and other fact sheets
3. Acts as the primary contact for all PR/media including newspapers, radio and television
4. Assists in the recruitment of Board Members

Additional Qualifications
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in non profit or small business management
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• High level of skill and ability in writing, organizing, delegating and time-management, public relations and interpersonal communication and administration of volunteers.
• Good knowledge of techniques and procedures used in program development, planning, coordinating, administering and providing record keeping.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Proven ability to serve as a liaison with government agencies and other organizations serving the homeless population
• Advanced customer services skills and professionalism to interface with potential and actual donors, other human services organizations, contract staff, volunteers and volunteer organizations as well as guests.
• Proven ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously
